Town of Eatonville Swimming Pool Equipment

Location:  Eatonville, Florida

Project Type: Filtration equipment for a renovated, community swimming pool.

Eatonville, Florida, founded in 1887 by former slaves, stands as one of the oldest all-Black incorporated municipalities in the United States. It emerged in the post-Reconstruction era as a beacon of self-governance and prosperity, showcasing the ability of a Black community to thrive independently. Located just north of Orlando, the town was named after Josiah Eaton, one of its visionary co-founders. Eatonville became a magnet for Black settlers from across the South, seeking a sanctuary of self-reliance and freedom from racial oppression. The town’s rich history and cultural significance have continued to inspire pride among its residents.

For many years, the swimming pool in Eatonville was more than just a place to swim; it was a cherished communal space. Generations of residents recall fond memories of hot summer days spent by the pool, which served as a vital social hub for the town. Unfortunately, five years ago, the pool was closed due to lack of maintenance and failure to comply with ADA Standards. Its closure was a significant loss for the community, depriving residents of a beloved gathering place and a critical recreational resource.

Seeing the community's need and the pool's potential for bringing people together, local pool builders All Seasons Pools stepped in with an incredible offer. They committed to rebuilding the pool at no cost, demonstrating a profound sense of community spirit and generosity. Recognizing the importance of this project, Executive Pools reached out to AquaWorx to contribute to the renovation. AquaWorx donated the swimming pool’s filtration equipment, including over 100 items for the new equipment room, utilizing a DE pool filter system.

The swimming pool renovation project involved extensive work to bring the pool up to modern standards. All Seasons Pools undertook the challenge with enthusiasm, ensuring that the new pool would not only meet ADA standards but also provide an enhanced experience for all users. AquaWorx's contributions ensured that the pool would have the latest swimming pool filtration technology, ensuring cleaner and safer water for swimmers.

The announcement of the pool’s reopening sparked an outpouring of support from the Eatonville community and beyond. Local businesses eagerly joined the effort, offering resources and services to ensure the project’s success. Their contributions included railings, tiles, and the deck pavement. Moreover, the community saw this as an opportunity to promote water safety, with local swim schools offering free swim lessons to neighboring public schools during the school day. This initiative aims to teach essential water safety skills to children, potentially saving lives and fostering a love for swimming.

The excitement in Eatonville is palpable as the summer season approaches. Residents eagerly anticipate the pool’s reopening, which aims to restore a vital aspect of community life. The renovated pool is set to become a vibrant center for social interaction, physical activity, and water safety education.

The renovation of the Eatonville swimming pool is a testament to the power of community and collaboration. From the generous donations of All Seasons Pools and AquaWorx to the enthusiastic support of local businesses, this project showcases how collective efforts can bring about meaningful change. The new swimming pool will not only revive cherished traditions but also create opportunities for the residents of Eatonville to come together and thrive.
