Arturo N. Benavides Sr. Spray Park - Water Playset & Splash Pad Equipment

Location: Laredo, Texas

Project Type: Themed splash pad design with a pirate ship-themed water playset, marine-themed interactive water features, and recirculating filtration equipment packs for water feature operation.

Features:

The Arturo N. Benavides Sr. Spray Park is a vibrant addition to Arturo N. Benavides Park, a key development in Laredo, Texas’s ongoing efforts to enhance recreational options for its residents. The park's journey began with its groundbreaking ceremony in April 2023. Just over a year later, in May 2024, the splash pad was officially opened to the public, offering a new, engaging water play space for families to enjoy.

The splash pad features a custom Aqua Nautilus Pirate Ship-themed water playset, designed to spark children's imaginations. The water playground is painted with panels that resemble the walls of a pirate ship, accented with brown, yellow, and red colors. It includes interactive pirate cannons, a pirate-themed steering wheel, a showering crow’s nest, and two thrilling racing water slides, complemented by rock wall steps to add to the adventure.

Adding to the marine-themed aquatic play experience are a variety of water toys that capture the essence of an oceanic landscape. A three-piece shark water feature sprays water from its mouth, while crab-themed water rings allow children to run through as water showers down on them. Other notable elements include a broken boat, a palm tree water feature, and a playful school of fish. Ground sprays, gum drop water features, and spraying leaf elements further enrich the aquatic environment.

The splash pad is designed with user convenience and water efficiency in mind. An Aqua Activator allows visitors to turn on the splash pad at their leisure, with the water automatically shutting off after a set period to conserve resources. The splash pad operates on a recirculating filtration system that treats and recycles water using pool filters and secondary UV sanitation. Water is stored in a collector tank and filtered through drains on the splash pad surface, ensuring a clean, sanitized aquatic play environment. The splash pad water management system is housed in a gated equipment yard adjacent to the spray park.

The success of this project is due in large part to the collaboration between AquaWorx and Water Odyssey, two leading manufacturers of aquatic play equipment. Their expertise has brought a unique and enjoyable aquatic play experience to the residents of Laredo, making the splash pad a standout feature of the Arturo N. Benavides Park.
